Rabindranath Tagore visited Italy quite many times, for this reason, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Consulate General of Italy in Kolkata and Rabindra Bharati University to set up a permanent gallery on the premises of Rabindra Bharati Museum (Jorasanko Thakurbari, Tagore's house) to commemorate the Nobel Prize winner's visits to Italy in 1878, 1925 and 1926.
