The Government of India and the Government of the United States of America signed the Cultural Property Agreement on 26 July, 2024 to prevent and curb the illicit trafficking of antiquities from India to the USA. The agreement was signed by Shri Govind Mohan, Secretary, Ministry of Culture and H.E. Eric Garcetti, Ambassador of the United States of America to India. As of December 2024, a total of 358 retrieved antiquities have been repatriated, while 297 more are in the process of being repatriated from the USA to India.
