The Japanese Consulate and Japan Foundation partnered with the Indian Museum in Kolkata to present the exhibition "Ningyo: Art and Beauty of Japanese Dolls." Showcasing around 67 vibrant dolls, the display offers a captivating journey through Japan’s rich doll-making heritage, highlighting their cultural significance in rituals, storytelling, and craftsmanship. The exhibition explores the evolution of Japanese dolls from ancient protective figures like Katashiro and Amagatsu to intricately crafted court dolls such as Gosho Ningyo, as well as folk and contemporary dolls reflecting regional traditions and popular culture.
