The Museum of Letters or the Aksharam Museum set up by the Sahithya Pravarthaka Co-operative Society was inaugurated in Kottayam, Kerala. It has been touted as the first-of-its kind language-literary and cultural museum in the world tracing the diversity of the subcontinent’s languages, scripts and literature, proposing a counterpoint to a single language imposition. The museum features four galleries highlighting the evolution of communication, Indian scripts, Malayalam literature, printing techniques and the vibrancy of Kerala’s literacy movement.
