National Museum Showcases Rare 4th Century BCE Taxila Gold Ornaments

The National Museum in New Delhi hosted a rare exhibition Hiranmaya: Gold Ornaments from Taksasila, featuring exquisite jewellery pieces from the 4th century BCE to the 1st century CE, discovered in the ancient city of Taxila in present-day northwestern Pakistan. These artefacts were excavated by archaeologist John Marshall during his tenure from the archaeological mounds of Bhir and Sirkap. The collection, consisting of 25 exceptional pieces, included a gold bead necklace, a hairpin, and earrings, all of which are part of the National Museum’s reserve collection.
