Founder, Goa Chitra Museum
Victor Hugo Gomes is a curator, artist, and restorer who has dedicated over three decades to preserving Goa’s rich and diverse cultural heritage. Through a tireless, self-funded effort, he has collected and restored more than 40,000 artefacts—ranging from traditional agrarian tools to everyday objects—creating a unique, immersive museum experience that tells the story of Goa’s social and material history.
In 2024, under Gomes’ leadership, the Goa Chitra Museum, along with its branches Goa Chakra and Goa Cruti, further cemented its place as a dynamic cultural hub. It hosted a wide array of events and community programmes, including the Purmetachem Fest celebrating local culinary traditions, the lively Bondo Live music concert, rotating art exhibitions, and the much-loved Annual Christmas Traditions Revival. Alongside these, the museum organised workshops and educational activities for audiences of all ages, fostering hands-on engagement with Goan traditions.
