MUSEUM INFLUENCER 2026
Madhavi Kuckreja is an architect and designer whose work reimagines how history and heritage can be accessed outside formal institutions. As the founder of Lucknow Bioscope, a mobile museum initiative, she has developed an innovative practice that brings together spatial design, storytelling, and public history. Drawing on the nostalgia of the traditional “bioscope,” the project transforms archival material, oral histories, and everyday narratives into immersive, participatory experiences within public spaces.
A key initiative undertaken by Lucknow Bioscope is the “museum mixer,” an after-hours format that reactivates museum spaces through themed evening gatherings. Across five editions, these events have explored photography, crafts, Hindustani music, gastronomy, and postcard-making, bringing together creative communities while expanding the museum’s audience. The museum has also evolved through neighbourhood interventions, pop-up exhibitions, and collaborations with schools and local groups, embedding itself within the city’s social fabric. By situating history within lived environments, Kuckreja’s work offers a compelling model for decentralised, community-driven cultural engagement in India.
