A museum dedicated to A. Ramachandran, inaugurated in October 2025, brings together the vast and diverse works of one of India’s most significant modern artists. Spanning over six decades, Ramachandran’s practice moved across painting, sculpture, and drawing which was shaped by his training at Kala Bhavan, experiences in Rajasthan and Kerala, and his collaborations with different institutions. It is with this spirit that the museum presents the shift in his practice from early sociopolitical concerns to a deeper engagement with nature, mythology, and Indian and Asian artistic traditions. The museum introduces the visitors to Ramachandran’s artworks and also highlights his process through drawings and archival material, offering a comprehensive view of his evolving visual language and his lasting contribution to Indian art.
