A museum that stands as a reflection of the Lepcha community. Inaugurated in February 2025, this museum is a community-led museum in Sikkim. The museum documents the culture of the Lepcha community by reflecting on the ecological practices and indigenous knowledge systems. Sungsa Lee in Lepcha language means ‘House of Stories’ and, as the name suggests, the museum aims to preserve the stories of the community and impart knowledge and wisdom about the Lepcha community. The museum houses objects and artefacts such as Puntaong and Papri, which are crucial in the practices of the community. This museum signifies the importance of tribal cultures and their preservation through community-led initiatives.
